A Cross

It makes people
so very
uncomfortable
this tattoo
that sits
bold and beautiful

silent and strong

on the inside of
my wrist.
declaring
my Faith
a sign

a symbol

a tribute

a prayer

A Cross.

And they stare at it (the religious and the non)

with uneasy eyes and look me up and down trying to decide

if I'm
a "real"
Christian
or something
much different.

How silly,
how profound it
seems to me

that people
(the religious
and the non)

become so
easily
unsettled
in the
precense of

A Cross.
